About half of my high school class went to Rolla, for various flavors of engineering. (The other half was split between Mizzou, UMSL, and various compass-point schools. I think I'm the only one out of 500-odd students who went farther out of state than Illinois.) I mostly remember driving through there on our way to the Ozarks, stopping at a place called Arctic Circle for amazing milkshakes.

The countryside is very pretty, although I admit I'm kind of terrified of ending up in a place like that. I think it would be hard to keep busy over an extended period. I guess there are always weekends in the Ozarks...
